Pantanal cowboy 'Boiadeiro' in the Central Pantanal. They wear hard-wearing leather chaps over jeans or even shorts. Boots or bare foot depending on the season or where they are working. Many carry guns as there are cattle thiefs who attempt to steal the cattle as the fazendas are large. The 'boiadeiros' often decorate their clothing and horses and tack with pieces of metal. This cowboy has soda can tops on his chaps and an old watch strap secures his pistol in place.
