GALAPAGOS ISLANDS
ECUADOR. South America
THIS PUP IS ONLY 30 MIN. OLD
These are the smallest of the world's 7 species of fur seals with males only reaching 65-80kg's. They are found mostly in the upwelling zones in the west of the archipelago. They are usually quite solitary and avoid body contact with other fur seals, preferring to be in the shady lava crevices. They are nocturnal feeders and thus have very large eyes and good nocturnal vision.
ENDEMIC TO GALAPAGOS.
