Pantanal cowboy 'Boiadeiro' in the Central Pantanal - showing hollowed out bulls horn and used for drinking 'mate'. These mate horns and spoons go everywhere with them. They wear hard-wearing leather chaps over jeans or even shorts. Boots or bare foot depending on the season or where they are working. Many carry guns as there are cattle thiefs who attempt to steal the cattle as the fazendas are large. The 'boiadeiros' often decorate their clothing and horses and tack with pieces of metal.
