Hyacinth Macaw (Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus)
PHOTOGRAPHED IN: Pantanal. Largest contiguous wetland system in the world. Mato Grosso do Sur Province. BRAZIL. South America. RANGE: Interior s Brazil, extreme nw Paraguay and adjacent e Bolivia.
In late 2004 they were officially taken off of the endangered list. Project Blue macaw has been very successful in educating Pantanal farmers about the value of saving this bird.
