Papyrus swamps & channel. On leaving the restraining faults of the Panhandle the Okavango's waters spill and spread over the Kalahari sands, forming a vast delta of lagoons, channels and reedbeds. This channel is permanant and not seasonal flooding. The deeper water is in the channels which are kept open by hippopotamus. The reedbeds themselves support few creatures.
